Rather than being weekly updates, my news about Henry is slipping down the priority list. Unfortunately life is taking over a little bit and I’m constantly hearing that it’s “like that with the second” so this morning I’m making the effort to share news about my smallest peach with his 11 weeks update.
Henry has taken on the pet name of Peach as he has a perfectly rounded little face, he’s soft and slightly fuzzy and he’s lovely to sniff. My little Peach is currently asleep in the sling on my chest. Each morning he usually naps for around 30-40 mins approx. 2-2.5 hours after he first wakes. During this time I can usually shower, get dressed and enjoy a bit of free-arm time. This morning however, he woke after just 15 mins for some reason. After screaming for a bit so I offered him boob to see if he was hungry, he wasn’t. That or he was too distressed to try sucking. Eventually he did a big burp but that didn’t seem to calm him either. I decided he was overtired and wasn’t sure what he wanted so I finished getting dressed & he had to scream a little and then I put the sling on and he calmed down as we walked around the house. He went in to a bit of a daze and has since fallen asleep. For the last couple of days we’ve almost had a bit of a routine so I am sure that will be thrown out the window today.
Anyway, generally he is a very happy little baby. I could really do with sleeping more than about 2.5-3 hours at a stretch each night but James didn’t sleep through until he was about 10 months so I know that not much is going to change with Henry until then if I’m lucky. Anything before that will be considered a bonus!
We’ve also been in our new house about 2-3 weeks now. It’s a bigger house and we’re now just 9 mins drive from my Dad, step-mum and little sister. James has started a new nursery which is light years away from being the amazing, nurturing nursery that he left in Lindfield but I tell myself it’s just for 1 term before he starts nursery….
Back to Henry. In the last couple of days we’ve started wearing 3-6 month clothes as he’s pretty long and his 0-3 month sleepsuits no longer looked comfortable. I’m not sure how much he weighs and not sure either when our next appointment may be, if it is soon or not, as we’re also in the process of changing Doctors surgeries.
Currently he will feed for a maximum of around 14 mins each side although mostly it’s around 6-10 mins each side. If he’s had quite a good sleep during the day he will have both sides but generally there will always be a bit of a break in between. I am still trying to pump once per day although I have had so much going on in the last week that I have only been doing this when I need to which is in the 6 days leading up to a college day when I can pump in order to have milk ready for when I am not here. We also need to try and keep up with giving Henry the bottle in between so he still accepts it but we have also used the dummy too and I am hoping that a different thing in his mouth will keep him open to still accepting the bottle on college days.
Other than that I have a lot of reading and writing up of notes to do for my course and I’ve realised that it takes me so much longer now to even absorb what it is I’m reading and then a smidge more to actually retain the info so things are quite slow on that side so I’m thankful college days are just once per fortnight. It’s a mentally stimulating but also emotionally charged course so doing it with a young baby has been a challenge but an enjoyable one and so far I still feel I’m keeping up with both sides.
That’s all the update I can manage for the moment! Need to get 2 munchkins ready for the drive over to Dads to pick him and little sis up before going onwards to Great Nan’s house as she hasn’t managed to meet Henry yet!
